Description

Walk the artisan triangle between the Alcaicería, Calderería Nueva, and Corral del Carbón. Here, marquetry, Nasrid ceramics, and esparto workshops keep the Andalusi legacy alive.

Granada was for centuries the greatest artisan center of Al-Andalus. Marquetry (wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl and bone), green and purple ceramics, esparto work, and embossed leather are arts that survive today in just a handful of workshops in the historic center. This route takes you to meet the last master craftsmen keeping these 12th-century techniques alive, watching them work and with the chance to buy unique pieces directly from the maker.
