Federico García Lorca's rural tragedy comes to life in an innovative production by Granada company La Nave del Duende at Teatro Isabel la Católica. This contemporary revision of Yerma preserves the power of Lorca's verse while setting it in a minimalist stage design that accentuates the character's claustrophobia. A tribute to the poet in his homeland, directed by Ana Martín with original music composed using traditional instruments from the Alpujarra.
Teatro Isabel la Católica is Granada's municipal theater, a 1952 art deco space seating 760 people. Located right in the city center by the Acera del Darro, it has hosted the city's most important premieres and maintains a regular program of theater, dance, and music.
