The tragicomedy of Calisto and Melibea is performed at the Palace of Charles V, the most impressive Renaissance building in southern Spain. The National Classical Theater Company brings this production that respects Fernando de Rojas' original verse while incorporating staging that dialogues with the palace's circular architecture. A unique theatrical experience in a World Heritage venue, with the illuminated Alhambra as a backdrop.
The Palace of Charles V is a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture, built in 1527 by Pedro Machuca within the Alhambra complex. Its circular courtyard, unique in European Renaissance architecture, is 30 meters in diameter and becomes an open-air theater every summer seating 600 spectators.

Good to know
Palace access for the theater is independent from the Alhambra entrance. Arrive early: the entry queue can be long. August evenings are pleasant but bring a light layer just in case. English subtitles available via mobile app.
